Crockett, a combative presence heretofore best known outside of progressive and/or woke circles for a viral contentious insult contest with GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene during a thoroughly bonkers House Oversight Committee hearing last year, is apparently going mainstream — which might not sit well with the rest of the Democratic Party, but should keep us conservatives thoroughly entertained between now and Inauguration Day, at least.

Take her interview with Vanity Fair, published last week. (Please, as Henny Youngman might say if he were the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee.) Title: “Jasmine Crockett on Her ‘Old as S***’ Colleagues, the White-Woman Vote, and More 2024 Insights.”

OK, so she’s not a member of the Beltway gerontocracy, but Crockett is 43, so — at the risk of pulling a Don Lemon — let’s slow our roll on that one; Joe Biden was almost a decade younger when he began his tenure on Capitol Hill, and he started in the Senate, where the minimum age is five years higher.

Also, her “insights,” such as they may be, on the “white-woman vote” also probably aren’t going to be welcomed by the people in her party who have to like, win national elections — but I’m rooting against them, so please keep talking. […]

In a secret-ballot vote conducted Wednesday, however, Republicans in the U.S. Senate chose notorious Trump-hating Republican Sen. John Thune of South Dakota as the next Senate majority leader, thereby delivering a salutary reminder of their disdain for the American voter and prompting a backlash from Trump supporters on the social media platform X.

“We don’t want you. We don’t like you. Best piece of advice, DON’T STAND IN OUR WAY,” prominent Trump supporter Gunther Eagleman tweeted in reply to Thune’s victory.

Leija’s rationale was simple: He said he has benefited from Trump’s economic policies, especially tax cuts.

Rallies, oddly controversial photo ops, and all manner of legal entanglements are surely things at the top of the list for Trump to square away before Nov. 5.

One conservative watchdog is proffering a number of government bureaucrats — holdovers from the administration of incumbent President Joe Biden, no less — that Trump should seek to remove.

The report comes from the New York Post, which said it hired a professional lip reader to learn what took place when the two Democrats spoke privately in a conversation caught on camera but too far for a microphone to hear.

The Post report offers a unique take on the conversation, which fascinated many.

When President Joe Biden (remember him?), took the podium at a White House news briefing on Friday, one of the questioners brought up the vice president’s approach to the “crises the country has been facing over the past several days” and the role Harris is playing in dealing with them.

For the Harris campaign, the answer could hardly have been worse.

Many Christians and pro-lifers are caught in that emotional tug-of-war after the latest news about drug store chain CVS. According to a blistering Tuesday report from Reuters, CVS Health is exploring a myriad of options to fix its lagging business.

According to the Reuters exclusive, “the struggling health care services company looks to turn around its fortunes amid pressure from investors.” One drastic option being discussed is splintering the company in two, separating the company’s pharmacy chain and insurance business.

(The insurance side of the business stems from CVS’s “landmark $70 billion takeover of health care insurer Aetna in 2017.”)

The report said the company’s board of directors hasn’t yet decided whether the split is the right way to go. […]
