Despite Left-Wing Claims That Pro-Life Laws Hinder Health Care, No Texas Doctors Prosecuted for ‘Medically Necessary’ Abortions

Not one Texas doctor has been prosecuted for performing one of 132 “medically necessary” induced terminations of pregnancy, according to a report from the Texas Department of Health and Human Services released Jan. 2.

Texas law protects unborn life from six weeks gestation to birth. The ban on abortions prior to six weeks, which took effect in August 2022, allows exceptions to save the life of the mother.

Texas doctors have reported performing 132 abortions to save mothers’ lives since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade with the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision in 2022. Zero doctors have been prosecuted, sued, or sanctioned for conducting those procedures.

“This Texas law, SB 8, is allowing women to receive emergency care when they need it and receive care for pregnancy complications,” Dr. Christina Francis, CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, told The Daily Signal. “If it wasn’t, then we would see that none were being done for that reason. It shows that the law is working how it’s supposed to work, that the guidance that was provided by the Texas Medical Board is obviously working as well and allowing doctors to feel confident, knowing that they can provide lifesaving care to women.

“The law is working as it’s supposed to because no doctors have been prosecuted for providing this lifesaving care,” Francis continued. […]

In its war with Russia – started in February 2022 as a result of President Vladimir Putin’s aggression – Ukraine eventually proved able to invade and hold Russian territory. This obviously has caused Putin to be displeased with his military commanders as the conflict now approaches the three year mark. This is especially so since Putin anticipated Ukrainian forces would simply roll over when Russia invaded.

During the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln famously fired five generals for their lack of initiative in taking the war to the enemy before finally finding one to lead the North to victory. Putin has outdone Lincoln, demonstrating his frustration by having dismissed at least eight senior military commanders, ending their careers.

Putin fired his first general three months into the war for failing to capture Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city. That same month he fired his Black Sea Fleet commander after Ukraine – which has no navy to speak of – sank that fleet’s flagship, the cruiser Moskva. The firings continued – one occurring in February 2023 after a failed Russian offensive to take the Ukrainian coal-mining city of Vuhledar, which Moscow claimed beforehand would swing the war in its favor. Not only did Russia fail to do so, the three-week battle saw Russian tanks running over Russian troops.

This war has come at a high cost in human lives to both sides. As of December 2024, Ukraine admits to losing 43,000 men with another 370,000 wounded. But Russia, at 198,000 killed in action, has paid an even higher price, averaging losses of more than 4-to-1 compared to the Ukrainians. Another 550,000 Russians have been wounded.

While Russia obviously has a much larger population of young men to press into military service than does Ukraine, nonetheless, Putin realizes the Russian people have a breaking point at which the losses become so widespread that they will trigger public opposition to the war. He lacks the option the old Soviet Union had while fighting in Afghanistan (1979-1989) of quietly shipping its wounded off to hospitals located within its Warsaw Pact allies so as to limit drawing attention from the local Soviet population. U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., took aim at Speaker of the House Mike Johnson on Sunday, saying he wishes there were “a speaker with a spine” on federal budget issues.

Appearing on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo on the Fox News Channel, Paul was discussing America’s debt ceiling, and explained: “I’m one of the conservatives that has never voted to raise debt ceiling, but there are circumstances in which I would, and I’ve put those forward before.”

“I have a plan to balance the budget in five years. If we had a speaker with a spine who put forward a budget and a plan to cut spending over a five-year period to balance the budget, I’ll vote to raise the debt ceiling ’cause you still have to add debt during that five years.

“What happens typically, and this is where President Trump is right, since conservatives don’t vote for it, the liberals rule the day and they say we’ll vote for the debt ceiling but only if you spend more and create more debt. So it backfires.

“But there’s another alternative. Rather than getting rid of the debt ceiling, you get a speaker with a spine who puts forward a spending plan that actually encourages conservatives like myself and some members of the Freedom Caucus to join on, and and we will support raising the debt ceiling, but only if you reform government. Trump Should Unite Us With a ‘New American Patriotism’

Hard to believe it was just four years ago that Joe Biden was elected with a promise to unite the country. After the misery of COVID-19 deaths and lockdowns and the riots in the streets of major cities, Americans wanted to be united by a unifying national purpose.

Alas, it never happened. Instead, Biden and his leftist allies were drunk with power and swerved the Democratic Party even further to the left. This alienated half the country, with a ruinous and unpopular progressive agenda on every issue, from running up massive debts to rampant inflation to transgenderism to electric vehicle mandates.

The country was only further torn asunder.

Can Donald Trump learn from these blunders and be the president who unifies the country by embracing traditional American ideals? The Make America Great Again agenda has some rough edges for sure, but if presented right, led by a message of hope, not malice, Trump can deliver an idealistic policy the vast majority of Americans can embrace.

The way to do this is for Trump, as we approach our 250th birthday, to strike up the theme of a New American Patriotism. This should be a red-white-and-blue message centered around a renewed appreciation and celebration of American virtue and greatness. What better way to pull the country together? A Rancid Stew Brewed by the Witches of ‘The View’

Apparently, Whoopi Goldberg – a co-host of ABC’s “The View,” which is one of the most liberally focused political opinion television programs ever produced – felt she needed a new topic to fuel the flames of the show’s usual outrageous rhetoric critical of American values. As with most of the co-hosts, where facts do not exist to support their false assertions, they make them up.

A case in point resulted in Whoopi creating for herself the role of an innocent victim. Like a lion tossed meat, the audience – almost all of whom probably voted for Kamala Harris – consumed Whoopi’s victimhood story. While acknowledging it was only conjecture on her part, she fed her audience the idea she had been shunned by a business purely for her politics. Even if this were accurate, it was hypocritical for her to take such offense as one who has often ranted on and on about all things conservative, seldom backing up what she says with facts.

Whoopi claimed she had contacted a bakery – which she would not identify by name but was later reported to be Holtermans in Staten Island, N.Y. – to place orders for a special birthday dessert. When she placed two orders – one for a Nov. 6 taping of the show and one for her birthday on Nov. 13 – she was told there were operational issues with the bakery’s equipment. Whoopi claimed, “They said that their ovens had gone down, all kinds of stuff, but folks went and got them anyway.” She added, “It can’t be because I’m a woman, but perhaps they did not like my politics.”

The bakery’s owner, Jill Holtermann, acknowledged Whoopi had placed the orders but, due to a problem with their boilers, Holtermann became concerned about meeting the delivery dates for the show. She explained she did not want to take the order at first because she “didn’t want to make a commitment that I can’t carry through.” The last thing Holtermann wanted to do was to leave Whoopi in a lurch, awaiting pastries that could not be delivered on time. However, Whoopi chose to take this as a personal affront, rationalizing that it was based on her politics. It was an odd rationalization for Whoopi to jump to unless she recognized she does not represent the voice of reason and that her politics are way out in left field – but that is an issue for a separate discussion.

In any event, Whoopi’s allegation to malign the bakery backfired. Posts online criticized her for failing to move out of America like she had promised if Donald Trump won and suggested viewers “all cancel Whoopi and the witches of The View.” Meanwhile, increased customer orders have been emptying Holtermann’s shelves of its baked goods since the alleged slight. The guy is brilliant and gutsy, as he proved by fearlessly handling all comers on network TV and podcasts during the campaign.

The former and incoming president often cheered that Vance pick at rallies by pointing to his own head. It’s all about the brain.

So it is with the new White House team. Characters like Rex Tillerson, his first secretary of state, and Jim Mattis, his original defense chief, were lauded as central casting by Mr. Trump in his first go-round. Now that’s old news. Today it’s all about intelligence, loyalty and youth. […]

OK, first things first. I have to take a victory lap. Muhammad Ali said, “It’s not bragging if you can back it up.” I can back it up.

I was the only TV host in America to stick his neck on the line and boldly predict a Trump electoral landslide AND a popular vote victory.

I also promised this election would be a repeat of Reagan-Carter in 1980 – dead even for many months, polls showing a tie, and then suddenly on Election Day, a landslide.

How did I know? Simple. “It’s the economy, stupid.” It never changes. My friends and fans are hurting. Every small business owner I know is hurting. Kamala Harris and her team (let’s call them “The Washington Commies”) wrecked the economy.

Harris never had any solutions, simply because she’s the problem. She only feels your pain because she’s the one causing it. She and poor “brain-dead Joe” created the worst inflation of our lifetime. The voters understand only the billionaire who builds skyscrapers in Manhattan can fix it. […]

Misprinted Ballots, Broken Machines in Southern State

At least three Alabama voting sites were experiencing problems with voting Tuesday morning, reports the Montgomery Advertiser.

According to the paper, two Jefferson County polling places, along with the entirety of St. Clair County, reported issues at the polls.

The ACLU of Alabama said two tabulators were broken at the Hawkins Park Recreation Center in Birmingham, delaying voting, and one tabulator had been replaced by mid-morning. Officials were unsure if or when the second machine would also be replaced.

In the same county, the Center Point Community Center also reported that two of its voting machines were broken.

In St. Clair County, the Advertiser reported, voting had been delayed due to misprinted ballots, which were missing a statewide amendment and a local one. […]
