The New York man jailed on charges of killing a health insurance CEO in a terrorist attack is telling his fans not to send too many gifts due to prison rules.
Supporters have sent books, photos and other mail to the Brooklyn jail holding Luigi Mangione, who faces state and federal charges for the December murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione’s legal team said in a thankful message on its website that the “volume” of materials may cause slow processing by the facility.
“Due to the overwhelming generosity of members of the public, numerous books have already been mailed to Luigi,” the website says in a “FAQ” page. “He is very appreciative, but kindly asks that people temporarily refrain from sending more books. The number of books he can possess at any given time is limited.”
“Luigi appreciates the photos that are sent and kindly asks that people send no more than five photos at a time,” Mangione’s team said.
Prosecutors say Mangione stalked Thompson, a father of two, before fatally shooting him from behind outside a Manhattan hotel. The bullets and shell casings he used allegedly had “deny,” “depose” and “delay” written on them to represent how America’s healthcare system treats patients.
